What It Was Like: How Players Struggled, What They See Ahead

Nnena Nadozie and Johannes Seeman

Nnena Nadozie, the top Aztec women’s player, saw her usual training routines vanish:

“The biggest challenge was building up consistency as a team and as an individual.”

“Having to take two weeks off (for Covid restrictions) really made it difficult for everyone.”

“We’re used to hitting every day, getting fitness every day.”

Still, Nadozie saw brighter days ahead.

“I’m excited. The team is excited. Everyone’s working hard…to get back into great tennis shape…It’s going to be a really good year.”

Johannes Seeman, the top Aztec men’s player, said “This year was up and down…but in the end we have to be thankful for everyone who made it possible for us to play this season. I had great memories. I’m glad I was able to practice and play. My goal next season is to raise my tennis level. As a team I hope to play in the NCAA final tournament.

“I am confident that we will have a great team next year,“ Seeman said, adding he hopes spectators will be able to attend matches, making the atmosphere “more special.”

“I am stoked to see what the future will bring us,” he said.
