The Aztec tennis program has begun a project to install streaming video cameras on each of the Aztec Tennis Center’s 12 courts.
The camera system is intended as both a training tool and opening for fans and others to watch matches from afar.
The funds to create the system, estimated at $10,000 to $15,000, would come from a drive directed by coaches from both teams.
“Our hope is that we can bring live video streaming to allow anyone to watch our matches,” including potential recruits, said Nico Vinel, associate women’s head coach.
“This way, people back home, family members, friends, and fans can all watch.”
Vinel said coaches would record Aztec player matches and workouts to help them analyze strengths and improve their skills.
“Our goal is to be a top tier program in the country, and this is a big part of getting there,” he said.
